I thought I had enough Mod Podge to last a while! But apparently it goes quickly when you’re covering a desk, a mid-size wall shelf and miscellaneous small items.
I honestly thought I would have my ribbon organizer ready to show you already, but as I am prone to do I’ve turned it into a larger project than I intended. Also, there is the aforementioned shortage of Mod Podge. I’ll have to stick with preview photos for now!
The original. I was hoping to leave most of it white, but the paint was actually pretty beat up. There were drips in places and chips in others.
The beautiful cut-outs in the sides are my favorite part of the shelf. They’ll support a dowel to hold spools of ribbon.
Painted. This took two days thanks to the original high-gloss finish. Next time I’ll invest in a spray primer, stash bust or no… Some spots are still streaky, but they’ll be covered by paper anyway.
I’m covering almost all of the shelf surfaces in these five papers. It’s looking pretty good so far, if I do say so myself! I’m looking forward to showing you the real thing.
It's going to look so nice! Love the cheery papers.
ReplyDeleteThere are tons of recipes for home made mod podge, I think its 1 part water to 3 parts elmars glue, which is on sale for about 15 cents in August & September! So much cheaper than Mod- Podge.
